i need relationship help?
i have a friend whom i've known for about 1.5 years now. We dated for about 2 weeks until last week. we were happy together, not at the point to say i love you, but a good couple. she had to break up with me because of her father. full scenario: we went on a date, came back to meet her parents for just a few minutes. we talked for about 10 min before i had to leave as it was getting late. the father said he liked me. 4 days later i go to help paint her grandfathers house. we were in seperate cars simply because we started from two different locations. her mom called her while on the way to say her father didn't like me and didn't want me at the house to help. well too late we are there by the time i find out so we painted anyways and she didn't care because she liked me enough to stay. that night her father threw an ultimatum to her to break up with me (she is completely financially dependent on them still). She has a strong tie to her family, though, as she has never had a boyfriend before and thusly didn't have to support group to fall back on. Needless to say she became physically ill from the stress of having to make a decision of "betraying her family" as she saw it or lose me, someone she became extremely close to that wasn't family. I did find out later that the only reason the father had for not liking me was that i was entering the Air Force not as an officer firsthand, but as enlisted personel until I went through officer's school in about 2 years. at this point the father doesn't like me so much that he wouldn't allow me to speak to him face to face to discuss why he hates me so much despite only knowing me for 10 minutes from which I said nothing to offend him or make him believe i was not a good suitor for his daughter. it has been a week now since the breakup and I am feeling heartbroken. I am looking for any good relationship advice based on this to help me through it. Me and her are still good friends, she has clammed up as she does whenever major stresses happen so communications are a little off but i'm expecting those to get better soon. I believe she may want to date again when she can finally stand up to her father, but I will be leaving for the air force soon and she'll be leaving to attend a seperate college to finish so i don't know when we'll see each other again. Its a complex situation I just would like some advice because i don't know what i can do or moreover what i should do. I really like her, and I told her I will wait for her and that is true....i just feel like i'm stuck in limbo. I am an active person I am always working on or towards something so to be stuck in a pause like this is absolutely killing me, but i don't want to go after anyone else or do anything like that because thats not what i want. thanks for any advice i get in advance.
