This could also be called the rule of "making him miss you." This can apply to various scenarios from arriving late for a date, or perhaps never answering a phone call when the man wants to talk. This does make the man miss his crush, but could be seen as manipulative or disinterested behavior just the same. This could also be considered a form of resistance in response to the alpha male's strong will, a struggle for dominance in the relationship. The problem with this scenario is that if you act too cold too soon, he may get frostbite and seek loving attention somewhere else.
