A Casual Relationship: No Strings Attached?

Happy on my own - is what many Australians live and celebrate in the millennium. A 2002 report from the Australian Bureau auf Statistics shows less people getting married and the divorce rate is steadily creeping up.
More and more people do not seek happiness and fulfillment in a monogamous long term relationship, but are happy to engage in a ‘casual' relationship.

With the internet and the recent boom of adult dating sites the ordeal of finding a match for a casual relationship has become much easier and less stigmatised.
Dr Gabrielle Morrissey, sexologist and author, says when engaging in a casual relationship it is important to qualify in detail what the criteria for the encounter are.
"Many people who are involved casually make the mistake of not distinguishing between whether they are having casual sex or a casual relationship - the two are quite different!"
This differentiation becomes important when people actively seeking other likeminded people, submit their profiles on adult dating services or internet sites.
"Casual sex refers to engaging in the physical act of sex, plain and simple -a bonking buddy, with the emphasis on the bonking rather than the buddy."
Normally the involvement with each other does not extend over exchanging phone numbers or email addresses after a first online meeting on an adult dating site, so meetings for regular sex can be arranged. Most members on adult dating sites looking for this kind of encounter seek discretion, which means no dates, no social outings, no meeting the family, no breakfasts out at cafes, no talk of the future, basically no relating outside a sexual realm.
Other members of adult dating sites such as the successful Australian matchmaker www.adultsonly.com.au seek a casual relationship, which can be different to casual sex only.
"The casual relationship involves sex - often first and foremost, because it's the glue keeping the relationship together, but there is more to the bonding than only the sex, says Morrisey.
"The real trickiness of the casual relationship revolves around the rules. When one is social with a casual partner, the question of monogamy is raised."
Quite regularly though one of the involved will try to blur the boundaries previously set.
Morrissey says once a relationship has been defined as casual, the chances of transferring it to a monogamous relationship are low.
"Can you transform a casual sex situation or a casual relationship into something more? Sometimes. More often not. But it's worth a try and you're more likely to have half a chance of success only if you admit up front you're changing the rules.
It is important that people on adult dating site are absolutely certain what they are after and make sure possible matches know those rules of engagement.

How do I ask her to be my girlfriend?
This girl and I have been in a casual relationship for like 3 years, we are 22 now. I've been away from her for long periods of time with my job, and I realize that I really miss her a lot. Our "relationship" hasn't consisted of much yet in terms of romantic dates and what not, but we have spent a lot of time with eachother more casually, like friends, but we have slept together a lot. I want to take it to the next level with her and try dating. Since it has been casual for so long I think she thinks that all I want is sex. How can I move it to the next level and ask her if she wants it to be more serious?

I need advice from married people, my girlfriend and I want to move in together?
I'm 23 and my girlfriend is 18.We have a very good a open relationship, we talk about everything and we solve problems in an open minded way.We meet each others parents and decided our relationship is going to be a serious one.I asked her if she was sure because she is only 18 and she might want to experience some other things. She told me she is already tired of casual relationships and that she enjoyed her "highschool" phase already and she wants to just settle down. I finally got mysef some part time work plus I freelance graphic design here and there and make about 800- 1200 a month I would like to get a cheap appartment(I've seen some in about 150-25o USD/month) So how can I make this work with me being the provider and all.I really get nervous about this and not sure on where to start I already started saving up some money...but asides from that I don't know what else. please take note of the following: I'm NOT in the US only I live in PUERTO RICO Second my father lives on 700 dollars a month and maintains a house hold of 4 wqith no problem(things are cheaper her, rent...and all that)

how should i deal with this guy?
i was seeing this guy for about 6 weeks and all was going well, we were gf & bf, going out and enjoying each others company, we really liked each other but at the 6 week mark, he asked to change it into a casual relationship, to which I said NO and called it off, told him off for asking me such a thing, he knew how much im against Casual relationships now he contacts me 2-3 weeks later saying he is considering being a real descent bf to me, I know he still cares about me, but its what he said that concerns me. He said when or if he decides it won't be a casual thing? wtf does that mean? should i just stop all contact all together or wait his decision? im just a bit sick and tired of this
